NEWS, 3/5-2008:

Valbyparken in Copenhagen hosted the biggest disc golf tournament seen in Denmark so far, featuring a purse of 8.645 Euro and an international field of 90 players, including seven players with a rating of 1000+. The field was met by sunny April weather and little wind on the Copenhagen course.

The current no. 1 on the PDGA Player Ratings list, American David Feldberg, entered the WellWare Copenhagen Open 2008 as a natural favourite for winning the 1.000 Euro ($1.500), that was the prize for the Open division winner. From the first round David Feldberg lived up to his favourite role and finished an impressive 38 under par. Taking second place, was the local hero Karl Johan Nybo, who before the finals was tied with the 2007 winner, Finnish Timo Pursio. However, "KJ" played a strong final on his home course to finish four strokes better than Timo. This in spite the fact that Timo lived up to his winning CO2007 play and increased his average round ratings from 1022 to 1031 (estimated) in this year's tournament.

Finishing in fourth place, Swedish Karl Arnby outplayed such prominent countrymen as Anders Swärd, Christian Sandström, Linus Åström and Hans Tegebäck. Karl entered the tournament from the reserve list only four days before start.

In the 5 player Womens field results were close all weekend between Swedes Angelica Frantz and Lydie Hellgren and Finnish Anne Matilainen. Before the finals Anne Matilainen was in the lead by three and was able to defend her position to take the win.

Swedish Master Dan Johansson played stable rounds in the 50's throughout the tournament and finished eight strokes in front of the runner-up, American Robert Delisle.
